MIT established the Center for Real Estate to improve the quality of the built environment, enhance the real estate industry, and serve the Institute as a focal point for real estate education and research. Since its founding in 1983, MIT/CRE has introduced a coordinated set of education and research programs that have changed the face of real estate. Aside from a modest GIB (General Institute Budget) we receive from MIT, all other academic, research, fellowship and operational expenses come from endowments and funds established by the generous contributions of our alumni, friends and industry partners. Continuing to create important, original work with lasting results can be achieved only with your support, for which we are so grateful.
Our New Home
As you know, the Center for Real Estate has moved to its new home in the heart of the MIT campus. This was only made possible by the generous support of our alumni for our Capital Campaign. If you participated in this major fundraiser, thank you again for offering, and honoring, your pledge commitments. Without your generosity, we couldn’t have built our new space.
CRE Classroom 2000+ Fund
These funds are directed towards the renovation of the new Center for Real Estate. To complete your pledge commitment, go to CRE Classroom 2000+ Fund.
Faculty, Student Life & Industry Engagement
The Center has established a variety of funds to help sustain its work — those targeting specific programs, and those more generally supporting excellence in the Center’s activities:
CRE Endowment Fund
This endowment supports the operations of the Center for Real Estate. All funds will be matched 1:1, up to $1M, through a generous gift by one of our donors (through June 30, 2014).
New Visions Fund
This unrestricted account provides general support to MIT/CRE lecture programs, new academic initiatives and research, student and faculty activities, technology upgrades, facility improvements, and other projects. Learn more about contributing to New Visions Fund.
MIT/CRE Alumni Fund for Excellence in Education
These funds are used to enrich the educational experience of students enrolled in the Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) Program. Contribute to the MIT/CRE Alumni Fund for Excellence in Education.
