Professor Saiz’s research cited in Wall Street Journal

In a February 27th article in the WSJ, Prof. Saiz’s research was cited in the article,  Place Bets Carefully on Home Builders. While there are several different criteria that play into the housing market and price trends, housing price trends, Prof. Saiz’s research considers – even more than considerations like quality of life – the availability of land.

In his paper, “The Geographic Determinants of Housing Supply”, published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, he used satellite-based data to determine the amount of land available for development in 269 U.S. metropolitan areas, covering nearly three-quarters of the population.
