Chee San (Sandra) Choy
Prior to attending MIT, Sandra has been working as an architect for 9 years at world-renowned architectural firms in New York City, Hong Kong, and Seattle. She has been involved in multinational projects of varying functions and sizes. Notable projects include a 11,000 sq.ft. art-integrated skatepark adjacent to the Seattle Space Needle, a 2.5 million sq.ft. Samsung Electronic Headquarters in Seoul, and a 66,500 sq. ft. mixed-use office and retail redevelopment in Hong Kong. Most recently, Sandra has been spearheading the design and production efforts for the fashion headquarters of Shinsegae International in the Gangnam district of Seoul. Her diverse professional responsibilities include technical and regulatory research, management of professional consultants, feasibility studies, design, and construction administration.
At MIT, Sandra is looking forward to expanding her knowledge in real estate finance and development. Her focus is in mixed-use and innovative urban infill projects that revitalize downtown neighborhoods. She is looking forward to collaborating with her professors and fellow classmates.Originally from Hong Kong, Sandra came to the United States to pursue her architectural studies at the University of Michigan. She continued her graduate studies at Yale University where she focused on conceptual design research.
Outside of work, Sandra enjoys traveling, swimming, and volunteering for Guide Dogs.
