Oscar joins MIT with eight years experience in the real estate development industry in Australia where he owns and operates Willow Capital, a private investment and development firm focused on residential and mixed-use projects.
As Managing Director of Willow Capital, Oscar leveraged his knowledge of finance, planning and development to identify and transact on investment opportunities. His key responsibilities included forming investment strategies, site acquisitions and amalgamations, design development and working through complex planning obstacles to unlock value. Willow Capital currently has a development pipeline of AUD $200m and is operated by a management team based in Sydney. Prior to founding his own company, Oscar worked as a Development Manager at a boutique development firm where he was directly involved in several large scale multi-residential and mixed-use development projects. Oscar is also the founder of ApprovalBase, a SaaS start-up that aggregates building permit data and provides market intelligence to small to medium sized companies. The platform is targeted at builders, architectural suppliers, service providers and property professionals.
Oscar holds a Bachelor of Construction Management and Property with a major in Property Development from the University of New South Wales. He graduated with First Class Honours and the University Medal. At MIT, Oscar is looking to gain a greater understanding of the US real estate market and what technologies are going to impact the built environment in the future. He is particularly interested in highly integrated mixed-use buildings, housing affordability and the effect of economic rent.
