Admissions Timeline

  • September 1 – Online Application Opens
  • January 15 – Application Deadline, all materials must be submitted by this date for Admissions Committee consideration
  • Early March – Admissions Decisions Made & Mailed to Applicants

Academic Year

The curriculum is completed in 11 months of intensive full-time study (fall, spring and summer terms). The fall completion option (fall, spring, fall) stretches the program to approximately 16 months. A compulsory orientation period in late August is followed by the beginning of classes in September. Thesis projects must be completed by the end of July the following calendar year. Degrees are awarded in the fall.  Please visit MIT’s Academic Calendar for more details.

  • First Tuesday in September – First Day of Classes
  • Late October – MSRED Open House for Prospective Students
  • Mid December – Last Day of Classes
  • January – Independent Activities Period (IAP)

Spring

  • First Tuesday in February – First Day of Classes
  • Late March – Spring Break
  • Mid May – Last Day of Classes

Summer

  • End of July  – Thesis Due
