After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 and a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2011, both from Rice University, Ed joined Michael Maltzan Architecture in Los Angeles. During his time at MMA, Ed both contributed and led architectural team efforts to design and build a range of award winning projects. Ed’s portfolio includes extensive architectural experience in multi-family, cultural, and office development projects in both the public and private sectors. Alongside this work, Ed’s personal architectural practice as a licensed architect includes single family residential and private educational projects. Throughout his career as an architect, Ed has sought out inventive solutions to overcome unique challenges whether through innovative construction methodologies or new building technologies. He is also the co-founder of Oviary, an entrepreneurial venture focused on developing contraceptive smart devices, which has been recognized by publications like FastCompany and medGadget.
In 2008, Ed was awarded the Wagoner traveling grant based on his proposition to engage with city planners from Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou for their respective existing and planned urban intermodal transit systems. As a Samuel Tak Lee Real Estate Entrepreneurship Fellow, Ed will further his interest in thoughtful and sustainable development that can have real impacts on the urban environment and growth of cities.
In his free time Ed skis, samples new and exotic foods, and gets lost in hours spent riding and fixing his motorcycles.
