Sara joins the MIT MSRED class of 2019 with an interest in advancing the collaboration between design and development to bridge across silos of buildings, economies, policies, and communities. Her motivation to pursue Real Estate Development stems from its growing capacity to transform the city. She hopes to explore ways to reframe success, working towards outcomes that are responsive to the social and physical contexts of the urban environment. Her research interests include innovative affordable housing strategies and reimagining mixed-use industrial areas.
Pursuing a joint Master in City Planning in addition to the MSRED program, she focused her first year on urban design. Prior to MIT, Sara worked at SCAPE Landscape Architecture in NYC and the Department of Commerce as a political appointee in the Obama Administration in Washington, DC. She will spend the summer back in NYC in the asset management division at the NYC Economic Development Corporation.
Sara received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a secondary in History of Art and Architecture from Harvard University. She grew up in Massachusetts and enjoys swimming, running, and tai chi.
